    The Portland Thorns announced Friday that Canadian soccer star Janine Beckie has suffered a torn ACL and will miss the National Women's Soccer League season.
    The winger suffered the injury during a 4-1 pre-season win over the United States Under-23 women's national team at Portland's Providence Park. Beckie left the pitch on a stretcher, holding her knee, in the 19th minute after a non-contact injury.

    Oleksiak to miss Canadian Swimming Trials as she continues to rehab injury

    Penny Oleksiak will not be competing in the 2023 Bell Canadian Swimming Trials as she continues her rehabilitation from injury, Swimming Canada announced Friday.
    The event takes from March 28 to April 2 in Toronto.
    Oleksiak underwent knee surgery in August 2022 to repair a torn meniscus.
    According to a media release from Swimming Canada, Oleksiak is now dealing with “complications” with her other knee, as well as her shoulder.
    “I'm working hard to prioritize my recovery right now. Unfortunately, I'm not quite ready to race my best at Trials,” Oleksiak said in the release.
